Job Posting: Pride Summer Program Coordinator


We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starter to help plan and facilitate Swift Current Pride Week and other LGBTQ+ friendly events in Swift Current and southwest Saskatchewan. This position will be 30 hours a week for 8 weeks. The anticipated start date is May 15, 2018.


Hourly Wage: $15


Job Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in building welcoming and inclusive communities for LGBTQ2 people and allies through visibility, partnerships and community events in Southwest Saskatchewan

  • Assist with planning & overseeing Swift Current Pride Week festival

    • Coordinate volunteers for Swift Current Pride Week & other LGBTQ2 summer events

    • Seek sponsors

    • Create advertising

    • Social media

    • Send invitations

    • Write follow up reports

  • Responsible for writing and posting blog posts & other social media content

  • Connect with other organizations to plan and carryout LGBTQ2 community building events rural communities in southwest Saskatchewan

  • Represent Southwest Saskatchewan Pride at community events like Market Square, Picnic in the Park, Windscape

  • Develop information on LGBTQ2 resources in southwest Saskatchewan



  • Must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program

    • 16-30 years old

    • Registered as a full-time student during the preceding and upcoming year.

    • Legally entitled to work in Saskatchewan.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Familiarity with the work of Southwest Saskatchewan Pride

  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ adults and youth

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and committed to building diverse and welcoming communities

  • Proficient at Microsoft Office

  • Own vehicle is an asset

  • Some post-secondary education is an asset

  • Experience with event planning and volunteer coordination is an asset

  • Must obtain Safe Places Certification, which involves an online training program, and a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screen
